I achieved an Honours degree in Fine Art Valuation at Southampton, and in my final year specialised in the history and development of the global collector car market. After graduating in 1995 I was appointed Automobilia specialist at Brooks Auctioneers London and later headed Sotheby’s Vintage and Classic Car department in New Bond Street, London. After several years at Sotheby’s, I went on to Head of Cheffins’ Vintage and Classic Auctions department in Cambridge and later became an Associate Partner in that firm.
Having operated at the top end of the UK classic vehicle scene for two decades, I have personally handled the appraisal and valuation of literally thousands of vintage and classic cars, motorcycles, commercial vehicles and items of motoring memorabilia from circa 1895 to 1995. My professional services are regularly employed by private clients, collectors, museums, the legal profession, finance companies, the police and even major car manufacturers. I have regularly written for the classic car press as auction market analyst and have broadcast on BBC Radio. To ensure my valuation research is put into context, a sound understanding of engineering and restoration comes from the restoration and modification of many of my own classic cars and bikes over the last 35 years.
Whatever your valuation and appraisal requirements, my aim is to provide clients with the attention and peace of mind only a personal and professional service can deliver.
